Well Balanced Kitchen Pendants

For some, it’s all about balance. Whether it’s a balance of color, furniture or accessories, if something is off in the slightest, it can throw off a designer’s entire vision.

Our featured kitchen today is very well balanced indeed. Notice the groups of three’s: the three bar stools, the three bowls of fruit, three rows of three boxes and the three pendant lights suspended over the bar area. Lighting plays a big role in a room’s balance. While you want your work surfaces to be well highlighted, you also want nearby areas to be noticed as well. Oftentimes lighting an area calls for multiple styles of lighting products.

Larger areas, like dining rooms or formal living rooms will have some form of chandelier. Chandeliers have multiple lights stemming from them and they can provide a much larger spread of light. They too come in all types of designs and finishes to ensure it will balance out the remainder of your room’s decor. There are also wall sconces to consider. Although smaller than a chandelier, wall sconces are often paired in two’s together on opposite sides of windows, framed artwork or bathroom vanity mirrors.

Ceiling pendants are commonly installed like you see today – hanging by a cord or stem mount over an island or bar area. These are generally the most popular form of kitchen lighting found today as countless finishes and designs allow homeowners to fully customize pieces for their home. Those shown today have a similar look and feel to our Outlaw Pendant. With a deep bowl shade design below, the neck area is opened up to expose some of the light bulb. Although semi contemporary in the photo above, a number of alternative finish options are available to balance out traditional and rustic designs as well.
