Vintage Wall Sconces Can Provide Bedside Lighting

Based on their current interests, creating a special space for a child that will grow with them, can end up being a difficult task. These wants are guaranteed to change over the next few years, months (or even days), so the ability to easily and inexpensively switch it up is an absolute necessity. With that being said, there are a few key elements that should be able to translate into their newest tastes.

  1. Storage! Storage is absolutely essential for growth and change. As a child grows older, they will have needs for storing different things. What may start as small toys while in elementary school, can grow to a music collection in middle school, and onto plenty of schoolbooks and sports equipment in high school. Once they leave the nest, that storage can benefit you too! Take a cue from the built in bed shown above; the drawers underneath and shelves at the end can be used to store all their precious mementos in the future.
  2. Along with storage, you’ll need to make use of space in the most functional manner. The bed shown here is tucked into an awkward shaped nook of the room, maximizing the floor space for their growing needs.
  3. Light fixtures can be expensive, but also an afterthought. The bed above has vintage wall sconces tucked neatly inside, providing light for bedtime stories and late night study sessions.

Similar to the sconces shown in the above photo, is the Port Gibson Bath Light. Don’t let the name fool you; this light is perfect for use throughout the home, not just in the bathroom. This vintage wall sconce is available in polished nickel and satin nickel, adding to its flexibility within your home. Instead of mounting two separate lights, you could also choose to have this light as a multiple shade mount, with up to five shades!
