Warehouse pendants offer an effective and stylish solution to complete eclectic rooms like the home pictured above. A cluster of cord hung warehouse shades in both a black and galvanized finish add a one of a kind touch to the 220 square foot room. The pendants were installed over a table that was once used as a train station door. Readers from around the world sent in their beautiful small space and tips for living well under 1,000 square feet. The apartment’s owner, Steve, claimed his biggest challenge was to find accessories and decorations that would “add to the feel, without going over the top.” Warehouse pendants were the perfect choice to add just enough charm without dominating the overall theme. In the conjoined living room, Steve added a magazine rack, tufted leather sofas and Union Jack throw pillows to create his masculine setting. A semi open floor plan allows the warehouse shades to be seen within eyesight of the corner doorway.

Durability and reliability are two of the most valuable aspects of galvanized lighting. A perfect example of this is Sea World Adventure Park in Orlando, Florida. The entryway to the Dolphin Cove exhibit is illuminated by galvanized warehouse pendants. The Original Barn Light from Barn Light Electric got its basic structural design from vintage porcelain enamel designs that were first manufactured in the 1930′s. The angle of RLM shade keeps the light projected completely downward, which is extremely useful in settings where lighting affects the quality of an exhibit.

Once visitors enter the tunnel into Dolphin Cove, a dark environment provides optimal viewing. Thanks to the RLM shades, the dolphins can be seen in their natural habitat, with no distracting glares on the glass!

As you can see in the pictures above, each shade is mounted with a stem mount and hang straight canopy. These choices are the best mounting option for long-term, fixed settings. The metal pipe used for the stem mount houses all electrical wiring that runs from the socket up to the electrical box. The stem mount used for these lights at the entry way of Dolphin Cove protects the lights from the heavy rain or severe thunderstorms that bombard Orlando and the rest of central Florida throughout the year.

From what looks to be straight from the country, is actually out of the country – Scotland to be exact. This quaint cottage can be found in Pittenweem, a small fishing village tucked in the corner of Fife which in turn lies on the East coast of Scotland. The home has an unusual, quirky shape – in the 1970′s it was redesigned and made larger by using two neighboring cottages.

The owners chose to paint most of the home’s interior white. The kitchen takes on a rustic feel with its farmhouse sink, paneled cabinets, and grooved, butcher block counters. Adding to the charm are eclectic worn chairs, fresh arranged plants from the garden, polka dots, and a dear to our heart, a warehouse shade.  Although most of these purchases aren’t available to us in America, we’ve put together a few of our own Barn Light Electric pendants that have similar shapes, features, and colors to assist in creating your own country style space.

First up is the Canon Warehouse Pendant. The Canon has a similar neck to the Outback with a guard and glass exposed at the top; this allows for several customized color and glass combinations and for extra added light to fan out across the shade.

The Outlaw has a deeper bowl, but by selecting a larger shade, the bowl begins to widen at the base. The wider shade selection is great for both large and small tables – larger shades will help light the entire space, while when placing it over a small table, it can become more of a focal point in the room. If you happened to watch Extreme Makeover Home Edition last night you would have been introduced to the Hill Family, a well deserving family of 13 in need of an extensive home renovation.  With an emphasis on volunteering, the team was joined this week by actor/rapper Xzibit to provide some additional help to this selfless family.  The home that Ty Pennington and the rest of the design team arrived at was extremely cramped for this family of 13, with various issues due to years of heavy wear and tear and water damage.  When the design team had contacted us about contributing to the renovation of the Hill’s house we, along with our manufacturer, were more than happy to offer some of our warehouse lights and wall mount fans to this well deserving family.  A desired urban environment was created in the finished basement with pair of 7” angle shades on HL-H Goosenecks that were used to light a media wall, and the addition of a number of 17” Old Dixie Pendants with red wire guards were suspended from the ceiling around the basement.  The raw look of the galvanized finish on these shades helps to compliment the bright colors and rich tones that encompassed the walls and furniture, creating an impressive loft inspired environment.  The finishing touch completing this ideal man cave was the addition of a kitchenette with a corresponding workout room equipped with one of our wall mounted commercial barn fans, keeping the young men of the Hill house cool while they workout. We could not be happier with the end product that the designers at Extreme Makeover Home Edition created for the Hill family, and we were honored that they chose our Barn Light Electric products to complete such an incredible home for this well deserving family.
