Back in March when we were simply dreaming of summer picnics, we featured the Manhattan studio of The Jewels of New York. Diana Yen, the creative force behind this catering and food consultation service, installed two Ivanhoe™ Avalon Warehouse Porcelain Pendants to brighten up her busy work space. And as it often happens with customers browsing our website, something else caught Diana’s eye.Read More

Sam Levenson, an American humorist, writer, teacher, and journalist had this to say about time — “Don’t watch the clock; do what it does. Keep going.” We think Sam must have written that on a Monday morning, not a Friday afternoon at 3:00pm when he’d been slaving in the cubicle all week! However, even Sam might be tempted to slow down and take a look at time passing on these beautiful vintage clocks. These are part of our rapidly expanding line of Industrial Decor here at Barn Light Electric in a collection we call Vintage Timekeeping. Taking inspiration from a variety of antique clocks, the Vintage Timekeeping line has a range of styles including classic, vintage, and retro in beautiful shades of cream, black, and red. You’ll also find some classic wooden clocks!
The clocks in this photo are from our Retro Collection and were photographed recently at Rocket City Retro, a family-owned and operated business that serves the Cocoa, Florida area with expert interior designing and a line of high-quality furniture. The clock at the top left is our Bullit Mantel Clock which features a quirky design that would appeal to your college student or be a great desk accessory at work. Available in Gloss Red or Gloss Black, the clock features bold, arabic numerals and a continuous digital alarm sound.
The top right clock above is the Bubble Alarm Clock which comes in Gloss Cream, Gloss Red, or Gloss Black. The bold hands and arabic numbers against the printed white paper dial make for easy reading within the acrylic case and domed acrylic lens. And the bold red clock on the bottom shelf is The Metro Clock which also comes in a sleek Gloss Black. This retro wall clock has an acrylic case that gives it’s vintage design a fun, modern twist and would look great in the kitchen or study. The dial has an aged appearance adding to its vintage charm!
With the do-it-yourself trend becoming more and more popular, we wanted to get in on it! While Pinterest didn’t start the craze, it definitely facilitated it. For those of you with Pinterest boards, we’re sure you’ve got a long to-do list involving that old, grungy something-or-other in your garage. Maybe you’ve attempted it? Whether you succeeded or failed, it’s probably a story worth sharing. The simplest of them all is probably the DIY Chalkboard. It’s pretty cut and dry: grab an old picture frame, take out the picture, and paint the glass! Pretty fail-proof, right? What you’ll need:Read More
Those with modern tastes would love this bright kitchen with its stainless appliances and sleek white cabinets unencumbered by any sort of handle or decoration. If the entire space were this bright and slick, it might take on an almost sterile look but the warm wood flooring, the old exposed brick wall in the adjoining hallway, and the simple wood counter all help soften the space and give it a more inviting feeling. The touch of industrial decor is another bonus — these backless stools tucked underneath the counter look very much like our Industrial Factory Backless Stool. The backless stools are a great choice here as they can be pushed underneath the bar when not in use freeing up floor space and leaving the walkway open for traffic flow.
Our Industrial Factory stools take their design cues straight from the Machine Age of the early 20th century when American steel production went into high gear between the two world wars. Furniture took on a sleek, efficient look and this type of stool was often found in bustling factories and warehouses. Their timeless design is perfect for homes such as this one or for commercial businesses trying to capture an industrial vibe with their decor.
The sturdy vintage stools are crafted entirely from steel and feature a fixed, solid black walnut seat. Choose the classic Black or Galvanized finish for a rustic look to complement a farmhouse or traditional home, or choose the Barn Red for a more retro feel in your urban loft.
The American-made Industrial Factory Stool is also available in a backed version that features the same solid black walnut seat but with a swivel design. The backed stools would make a delightful addition to a local pub, a restaurant with tall tables, for the workshop in the garage, or for the man cave downstairs!
