The old saying that the kitchen is the heart of the home was surely coined in Jana’s house. Our Featured Customer built her home on a cattle ranch and hay farm in Eastern Oregon 22 years ago. At the time, she had three children and her kitchen seemed huge.
“Then our family grew to seven children, four of which are married now, and we will soon have eight grandchildren,” Jana says. “We outgrew the kitchen years ago, but it took us awhile to decide to remodel.” The family spends many hours every day in the kitchen. Winters are long in Oregon and there is a cozy fireplace at one end of the room. And summers are busy with haying seven days a week.

There’s no novelty space quite like a walk-in closet. Something about entering a room with chicly organized clothing from ceiling to carpet gives us the feeling of luxury and affluence. Unfortunately, not every house is furnished with these novel nooks, but we can still achieve the look of vintage glamour in our dressing spaces with these decorative accessories.
Designer Closet Cabinets and Walk–in closet islands are perfect for in-closet and out-closet spaces. They add crisp surfaces and ample organization for your clothing and accessories. Placing an ornate Chateau Dressing Chair beside your island allows you to utilize the counter top for makeup application and styling while feeling like Hollywood royalty. Try an Industrial Metal Round Standing Mirror for primping and give yourself lots of light with this Decorative Wire Mannequin Table Lamp. The Vintage Century Lighting Broadway Stage Spot Light is a great conversation piece that plays off of the “Old Hollywood” theme.
Other vintage inspired accents like the Lille Tin Wall Clock and sepia Flower Arrangement photograph keep with the monochromatic theme, while mint colored vintage suitcases and Barn Light Electric’s new Jadite Enamelware Cup add a soft palette reminiscent of the famous Tiffany blue. Soft lighting from the Raindrop Chandelier will give your space a romantic, angelic glow—perfect for the modern Doris Day!

It’s no secret that the end of Daylight Savings Time is due up this weekend. Back in March, we moaned and groaned about losing an hour of sleep on the weekend after what was probably a grueling work week (aren’t they always?). This Sunday, you get the chance to gain that hour of sleep back. With the technology today, you don’t even need to worry about adjusting your main timepiece: the cell phone.
