Our love of mid-century style runs long and deep — from streamline moderne to atomic age industrial. Geometrical, aeronautical angles and emphasis on clean, simple lines take center stage in this trend and are perfect for office and organizational spaces. In our mid-century inspired office, we are taking our favorite elements of this interior design style and making them relevant for today’s home.Read More
When we spotted the utilitarian interiors of the Barista Parlour on Zarna’s Runway, we got the impression that someone on their interior design team had a little crush on vintage-inspired pendant lighting. With its high, vaulted ceilings, exposed wiring, and masculine wood accents, this coffee shop plays up the rustic side of commercial design. You can get this look by incorporating some of these antiquated details.
Breathe new life into old nautical and state flags by displaying them as wall ornamentations. This nostalgic State of Oregon Flag would look great on display and would be a great way to infuse color into your space!
Rooms with high ceilings are ideal for creative lighting displays. In this shop, we love that they combined bare bulb pendants with old warehouse shades to reflect different volumes of light. Barn Light Electric manufactures many similar hanging pendants like the Ivanhoe™ Sky Chief Warehouse Porcelain Pendant, the Ivanhoe™ Conoco Porcelain Pendant, and the Indy Porcelain Socket Pendant. Juxtapose this industrial lighting with something more refined like the Central Park Swing Arm Sconce.
The industrial-style interiors are making the transition from winter trend to spring must-have — so start your space today!

The Streamline Moderne look has been on everyone’s mind, and in light of this week’s launch of our newest wall sconce collection, we want to show you how to channel this retro-era in your own home. Sleek, horizontal lines and rounded corners are telltale signs of Streamline Moderne and you can often spot them at old-school Greyhound stations and nostalgic diners.
This movement has heavily influenced interior design as well. We were tickled pink when we stumbled across this midcentury atomic-styled home from the Portland Homes and Living blog. The clean, airy feeling of the space that is achieved with the use of white and galvanized appliances and glass accents is still relevant to today’s design tastes.Read More
We were in for a treat when Lauren, our photographer, stumbled across one of our new favorite vacation locations—the Mermaid Cottages. Their charming interiors full of vibrant walls, rustic accents, and shabby chic décor captivated us–of course we had to be their friends! We were inspired by their many rental cottages located on Tybee Island, so today’s Style Me Sunday is all about the “cottage charm, coastal calm” of their Inlet Breeze master bedroom.Read More
This week’s Style Me Sunday ushers in a little summer warmth to ease your chilly winter blues. And there’s no better light than our new Sydney shades to do this! Its nautical style is reminiscent of our favorite oceanic holidays—and is the perfect fixture for this eclectic space.
