With the 2013 Kentucky Derby in the books and the Preakness set for this weekend, even casual observers of horse racing are getting excited about the annual Triple Crown hype. Few, however, consider what happens after a thoroughbred finishes a racing career. This doesn’t mean you can’t have a taste of the natural environment in your space as evidenced by the newly designed office spaces for LogicMonitor in downtown Santa Barbara, California. This SaaS company (Software-as-a-Service) provides hosted monitoring of IT infrastructure and recently moved into a former data center. Their designer, Celeste Trudeau, used a soothing palette to create a modern yet industrial space.

In a recent blog post, we visited with Sarah Phipps, a resident of Bend, Oregon, who has been flipping houses for a number of years but is spending more and more time in design consultation. Clients are eager to tap into Sarah’s eclectic style, her skill set, and years of on-the-job knowledge. On a recent project, she transformed a tiny kitchen in an old mill cottage into a functional and funky space. In Bend, Oregon, Sarah Phipps has been designing and flipping houses for a long time and is currently venturing into design consultation. On a recent project, she transformed two small mill cottages into modern, updated spaces complete with gooseneck barn lighting.

One such designer is Tammara Stroud, owner of Tammara Stroud Design, a Seattle-based, full service design firm specializing in fresh, modern approaches to interior spaces.
“Our goal is to successfully blend function and beauty,” Tammara says. Her firm was announced a Best of Houzz winner in January. The wildly popular website was where Tammara first discovered Barn Light Electric and she knew our rustic warehouse shades would be perfect for a bathroom she was remodeling.
