Deep bowl warehouse shades are popping up all over from industrial farmhouses to urban restaurants to airport gift shops. These beautiful shades not only bring a focused beam of light to the surface where they hang, they become an integral design element of the room itself. While large pendants are stylish and functional and can make a dramatic statement in a room, they may easily overwhelm a smaller space.

Is your home a little kitschy – in a good way? Maybe you’re a renter with unfortunate guidelines about painting, so instead you decorate with bright and bold colors? Judging by this little bedside vignette, that looks like just the scenario today.
Whether intentional or not, the tenant followed a basic design principal, using groups of three’s. Instead of using objects though, they used three key colors: yellow, blue and black. Bright blue striped bedding makes a statement against the sterile white walls, and their goldenrod yellow accents flood the corner with additional color. The little side table is packed with items to get the most out of the surface area – leaving not much room for a table lamp, hmm? Unless you plan on reading by flashlight, lantern or candle light, nearly everyone needs a little extra something by their bed – just like this renter.
A retro, yet contemporary style wall sconce was chosen to hang over the corner of the bed. Our Saddlebred Sconce has the same unconventional, rounded shape as this one today; the dome-like shade directs light downwards over your shoulder. Any further left or right would put the spread of light too far out of reach – ideally, a second sconce would be mounted in the same location on the opposite side of the bed too. One should also point out that the bedside light acts as a modern piece of décor – such a simple alternative to wall art, right?
The Saddlebred Sconce can be ordered in the same sleek Black finish as this one today. Unlike store bought lights that fall apart in no time, you can pair the Black finish up with our 10 inch shade and you’ll have a stylish, long lasting bedside lamp for under $160. Have a different color scheme in your bedroom? Select from funky finishes like Cruiser Green or Yellow, or go elegant and traditional with Vanilla Creme or our beautiful Raw Copper.
