In a joint effort to preserve to the proud history of a small Minnesotan town, Barn Light Electric provided four vintage wall sconces to a former depot. This once housed the Pine River Fire Department, home to a 90-year-old, horse-drawn fire engine known as “The Old Waukesha.”
Four Chaparral Cast Guard CGU Sconces in a black finish were added to the corners of the historic, 40 by 18 foot depot. This depot is maintained by a volunteer supported organization called the Heritage Group North. According to Heritage’s archaeologist/historian Douglas Birk, the original building served as a rail depot that consisted of a waiting room, an office with a bay window and a small freight room.
With its large canopy, the Chaparral is a great wall sconce for exterior lighting in both commercial and residential areas. Its lantern-like, railroad era inspired design matches the vintage industrial style of the depot which was erected in 1898. Its black finish and metal cast guard with frosted glass provide a visually appealing balance to the red trim along the depot’s doors and windows.
As you can see in the top photo, the Chaparral’s welcoming spread of light is contained within an area that doesn’t interfere with the exhibit windows. The wall sconces not only draw attention to the display, they create a secure setting around the exterior of the depot, which allows visitors to view the fire station in a safe environment day or night.
Each barn wall sconce is built on a design inspired by warehouse shades from the early 1900′s. Whether you’re starting a new home from the ground up or you’re restoring an old house, Barn Light Electric’s barn wall sconces will make an eye-catching addition to any room or exterior where they’re installed. In addition to the line of barn wall sconces, Barn Light Electric also sells modern, nautical, rustic, vintage and Arts & Crafts wall sconces to coordinate with any home’s decor and themes.
