Vintage barn lights aren’t always in the form of glass shades or porcelain pendant lighting. They come in all shapes, styles, and sizes, and are constructed from all sorts of materials. The Mimslyn Inn is a historic hotel in Virginia. Originally built in 1931, the land it was actually built on has a past dating back to the Civil War. The land in Luray, Virginia was originally used as an Army encampment and a hospital for Confederate soldiers.
In 2008, the Mimslyn Inn went through a multi-million dollar renovation. To keep with the historic feel of the hotel, everything was updated and revitalized – from the exterior brickwork all the way to restoring the original floors. The basement (previously unfinished), was transformed into a bar/restaurant, spa, and fitness room. With these renovations, this historic inn maintains its commanding presence in the Virginia countryside.
The renovations to preserve the notable atmosphere included saving the lantern style lights in the lobby. Exterior pendants like these outlast time – with both their design and outstanding construction. Similar to the gothic-style pendants in the lobby of the Mimslyn Inn is our Guild Hall Exterior Pendant. The Guild Hall Exterior Pendant has a rounded shape and multiple sockets for bulbs. This particular lantern is constructed from solid brass, assuring it to last for years. Although the Guild Hall Pendant is listed as an exterior lantern on our website, don’t limit it’s beauty to the outdoors. This pendant would look phenomenal in a hallway, or even above a traditionally designed kitchen island.
Want more of the Guild Hall Exterior Pendant? Don’t miss the Guild Hall Barn Lantern. This outdoor sconce has the look of an old kerosene lantern, but is a lot safer by today’s standards. Mount it by your front door to add a touch of old world grace to the face of your home.
