Get This Look: Deep Bowl Pendants in Southern Living Dream Kitchen

When it comes to decoration with an international flare, Vikki Werbalowsky believes that the best inspiration comes from travel experience and vacation memories.

Her kitchen’s layout is a culmination of style from the European countries she’s visited during the past 20 years. The two lights hanging above the kitchen table are similar to the Barn Light Deep Bowl Vent Pendant and are sold at Barn Light Electric^®. When Vikki planned the layout, she wanted to keep the family and friends involved between the kitchen and the living room.

“That’s why the 8-foot long table is right in the center of the kitchen…Everyone sits around and eats and talks and laughs. And people can be in the living room and still be in on the action.”

With no wall between the kitchen and living room, Vikki used cedar ceiling beams to “divide and define” the two rooms. With the deep bowl pendant lights showcasing the table as the focal point of the kitchen, the counters, shelves and extra touches like a cappuccino machine in the surrounding area echoes the themes from France and Italy. Neutral toned marble counter tops keep post-dinner cleanings low maintenance.

“In Italy and France, they have that stuff on their counters for 100 years, and the more aged it gets, the better it looks. Stains happen. Just go with it. Then it says, ‘We’ve lived here.”
