Featured Customers | Stephanie & Colin of Westerly, RI
Just like so many of our featured customers, Stephanie and Colin Bennett have a truly interesting background. After working together at a brewery in Hawaii, the two not only fell in love with each other, but also uniquely brewed beer. They dreamed of owning their own bar someday, but that day would have to come when they were older.
In 2008, the couple each reached a point in their careers that allowed them to move up in the corporate world. Instead, they decided to take a chance and pursue their dreams a little earlier than planned. Colin was working as a bartender in a local bar, while Stephanie was teaching hula-hoop classes and making custom hoops. If that’s not a unique background, then we’re not sure what is.
So, after a few years of construction and development, The Malted Barley opened up for business in Westerly, Rhode Island this past May. Featuring over 35 draught beers and 30+ craft American bottled beers, you’re likely to discover a brew to fit anyone’s taste buds. Not only is the beer unique, but so is the building. Surrounded by the simplicity of a classic, vintage atmosphere, local live bands become the stars of the show while guests kick back at the bar or on the riverfront patio.
With two levels for guests to gather, proper lighting for the stairwell was needed. The couple wanted something to blend with the industrial look of the interior and so they came to us! They went with our Ivanhoe™ Dino Porcelain Pendant in a gorgeous Cobalt Blue. Just as Stephanie said, “Every piece in the bar has a story behind it, including the pendant lighting!” Vintage style pendant lights like the Ivanhoe™ Dino have been seen throughout the pages of history – in warehouses, factories and now bars and restaurants!
