If you’re familiar with our featured customer articles, you may have noticed a common theme. Many are small business owners that have left their successful, professional careers to follow their dreams. Perhaps we’re drawn to this type of story because that’s how we started, or maybe it’s because we’re all dreamers at heart…
Today’s featured customer, Nancy from Nashville, Tennessee, took her knack for interior design, and ran with it. When her son began reading, she was inspired to design a unique bedframe for him that made reading fun. The headboard featured a clapboard backing with a built in barn sconce overhead as a reading lamp. After noticing the success of the piece, Nancy decided to market her talent to the rest of the world with a collection of beds and desks with built in lighting.
In the press shot featured above today, you’ll find Nancy herself resting on one of her exclusive desks. That vintage, time worn look is so popular today, couldn’t you see one in your home too? Definitely a desirable and versatile piece, you could use it as a desk in teenager’s bedroom or even as an extra vanity for those with a need for glamour!
Naturally we have to point out that the piece features our own galvanized gooseneck light at the top! Otherwise known as the Americana Warehouse Sconce, a conveniently placed switch on the frame below makes it easy to turn the light on and off again. Placing a barn sconce overhead was a great idea, especially for areas when you don’t have room for a lamp. By installing the warehouse shade above the desk and her son’s bed, light is able to flow downwards and softly cover a larger area – much more than typical desk or bedside lamps can.
If you’re a big fan of using American made products in your home, Nancy’s furniture line is hand-tooled by Amish craftsman – so choosing American made lighting for the Oliver desk was an easy choice. Be on the lookout, Nancy has a DIY furniture line coming out on lowes.com soon. By including one of our barn lamps on your next build, you could be one of our next featured customers!
