Over the years, we’ve made good friends in the business — from interior designers and architects to home builders and house flippers — all who bring their own special knowledge, experience, and personal style to their profession.
Today, we’re starting a new series authored by some of these friends who are willing to settle into the blogger’s chair for the day and post about what’s on their mind! First up is Melissa Andersen, a writer, editor, blogger, and social media manager/consultant for clients such as And North, Kaufmann Mercantile, and The Cousins from HGTV. Melissa hails from Jersey City, New Jersey, and is here to talk... Read More
I’m not sure what the weather is doing outside your window today but in typical spring fashion, March is being fickle. Mother Nature can’t quite let go of the frost just yet, but she teases with sunny days that make me long for flip flops and tank tops.
Spring will be here before we know it and right on its heels will be summer with its heat and humidity. Spring is a great time to consider installing ceiling fans in your home or place of business. Already have ceiling fans? Take a closer look and ask yourself — is the style outdated? Is the fan as energy efficient as it could be? Would it be more functional with a light kit? Is it just plain ugly?

I have a longstanding love affair with barns. I grew up in the south where we had a big old barn that was better than any playhouse my parents could have built us. My sisters and I spent countless hours there holding club meetings amongst the hay bales and watching barn swallows tend their nests in the eaves. On a rainy day, there was nothing better than a picnic lunch in the hayloft listening to the rain patter on the tin roof.
It’s no wonder so many people are converting barns to homes these days. With the popularity of reclaiming and recycling everything under the sun, an old barn can find new life as a home for two-legged creatures instead of four-legged... Read More
If you’re a follower of design blogs, you’ve probably kept up with the chatter on this year’s design trends. From the crowning of Radiant Orchid as the color of the year to the trend of mixing metals, fabrics, and colors in a space, this year seems to be about choosing pieces you love and worrying less about making everything match!
One trend we’ve spotted are metallic accessories popping up everywhere from wardrobes to appliances to furniture. Copper in particular seems to be making quite a comeback and, as one of the oldest materials known to man, is still sought after for its timeless beauty.
In home design, copper’s rich, natural hue... Read More
As the owner of the wildly successful LuLu’s Sunset Grill, Lucy Buffett — an exceptional cook, thoughtful philanthropist, savvy business woman, and Crazy Sista to Jimmy — turned her sights on creating a new establishment that offers a twist on typical Gulf Coast cuisine. The rustic yet refined Lucy B Goode Coastal Café, which overlooks Homeport Marina in Gulf Shores, Alabama, opened last August to rave reviews.
“I wanted the restaurant to resemble the old fish camp cafes along the Mississippi Gulf Coast where my Daddy would take my Mama for cold beer and crabs after a sunset sail when he was courting her back in the ’40s,” Lucy... Read More
I’m not sure if it’s the chilly weather or if I’m deep into the winter doldrums, but I’ve been dreaming about warm, sunny beaches and colorful, tropical fruit drinks. Just when I was looking for something to shake me out of my languor, I received these stunning photos from Baraka Point Estate! Located on Virgin Gorda in the British Virgin Islands, this luxury hideaway features copper-peaked pavilions, opulent ocean-view suites, and coral stone terraces that offer a front-row seat to sunset.
Ah, I feel better already!
I chatted with Meghann Cundall, Villa Manager, about this gorgeous property and how they chose our Machine Age Polished Copper... Read More
