West Texas makes me think of wide open spaces, friendly people, and places to hang out where, as Sam Malone would say, everybody knows your name. And when the design team from MWM Architects in Lubbock, Texas, sat down to create a brand new space for the Twisted Root Burger Company, that’s exactly the feel they were shooting for.
“Every Twisted Root is a little different and each has its own theme,” explains Sara Bradshaw, project manager with MWM. “Our theme was West Texas Dance Hall and we wanted a very eclectic, been-there-for-awhile feel with lots of personality.”
Along with Principle Architect Jason Moore, Sara searched for lighting... Read More
In Monday’s blog, we visited with Brian in Wake Forest, North Carolina, where his stunning new Craftsman-style home sits on eight rolling acres of land complete with hay fields, deep woods, and bubbling creeks. For much of the home’s exterior, Brian chose classic, American-made gooseneck lighting. Today we take a peek inside to see how Brian and his wife chose to light up the interior of their home.
“We were going for a vintage farmhouse feel with basic Craftsman elements to mimic the simple style of a North Carolina farm house,” Brian explains. “One of the best compliments we have received was when our landscape designer came in and... Read More
I got an email not long ago from a Barn Light customer who told me she was moving to a new home and would be ordering more lights soon. She had already renovated one home and was now starting over. I had to laugh when she wrote, “But don’t worry. I’m taking my favorite Jadite barn light with me!”

Many of our most popular wall lights are now part of our Apartment Lighting Collection which features fixtures that can be hardwired into the wall or... Read More
I have not adjusted to the time change apparently. I seem to forget, or perhaps I’m in denial, that it will be pitch black by the time I get home some days. I have yet to remember to turn on the outdoor lights when I leave.
And while late fall is a great time to wrap up outdoor chores for the year, it’s also a great time to think about your outdoor lighting which gets a workout during these months. If you remember to turn it on.
Start at the street and try to think like your Uncle Howard who will be navigating his way to your door for Thanksgiving in the dark. Is your driveway easy to see? Is your parking area well lit so Aunt Virginia doesn’t... Read More
When I was a kid, my favorite cereal was Lucky Charms. I would eat all of the oat pieces out of my bowl then savor every sweet spoonful of pastel-colored marshmallows.
Remodeling projects are like my bowl of Lucky Charms. You have to get through the mundane, albeit necessary, details before you get to the good stuff.
Kristine lives in the historic district of Nampa, Idaho, and tackled a kitchen remodel in her 1920s-era bungalow. Finding the perfect vintage schoolhouse lights were the icing on the cake for her.
“The lights were the last thing I ordered when the kitchen was just about finished,” Kristine says. “I knew that would be my favorite part... Read More
