The zoo is one place you never outgrow. No matter if you’re three or 83, there’s a special joy that comes from watching wild creatures in their natural habitats doing what they do. And here in Brevard County, Florida, we are blessed with a wonderful community zoo that enjoys support from many including Barn Light Electric.
Rated by Trip Advisor as the eighth highest consumer-rated zoo in the country, the Brevard Zoo entertains more than 400,000 visitors each year. In celebration of their 20th birthday, the zoo recently opened their newest exhibit — Meerkat Hamlet. The meerkat exhibit gives visitors an up close look at these precocious and highly social mammals and Barn Light Electric was proud to support this exhibit with some new barn lighting to help guide visitors along their way.Read More
Back in the early days of Barn Light Electric, owners Bryan and Donna Scott did it all. Like most small business owners, the couple created their web site design, developed new products, packed boxes for shipping, and even answered the phone as they enjoyed a hands-on approach to their growing business.
The couple recently heard from one of their very first customers – Michelle Pattee who purchased barn lights more than six years ago for her early 1900′s farmhouse located in Sebastopol, California.Read More
Anyone who has survived a major home renovation knows full well the hassles, headaches, and sometimes heartaches it can bring. But the constant mayhem outside their door has finally ended and the couple has put their contractor woes aside to start enjoying their renovated space just in time for spring.Read More

One thing I love about spring is the reemergence of color, especially outside my window. Bright yellow daffodils and lime green buds on the trees all signal the start of something new. It’s a great time to reconsider the color inside your house as well. The experts all have an opinion on the hot new colors each year, so we’ve been poking around to see what trends are out there and how you can consider these when choosing your lighting.Read More
It’s tempting when you buy a house to dash in, put your personal stamp on it, and fill every square inch. When Kerry and her husband Travis moved into their new home on the coast of Maine, they decided to spend some time thinking instead about what they wanted the unfinished space above their garage to be. Kerry is the author of a blog called Kid Giddy while Travis is a graphic designer. Their thoughtful process and creative spirits led them to envision a creative studio.Read More
Installing a cheap, imported light from a big-box store is akin to hanging a paint-by-number landscape over the fireplace mantel. Anybody can do it and it all looks the same.
“Lighting makes a statement like art on the wall,” says Tyler O’Brien, president and owner of Agave Custom Homes in central Texas. We couldn’t agree more.
On a recent project in Wimberly, Texas, just southwest of Austin, Tyler used some Barn Light Originals to make a Texas-sized statement on a new home he designed along with Felicia Foster of Barron Custom Design.Read More
