Robin Muto is an interior and lighting designer based out of Rochester, New York. We recently stumbled across a few of her wonderful design projects while browsing the blogosphere.
“Tasteful, Timeless, Comfortable, Refined”
These are the four words Robin uses to describe her design philosophy. However, this particular photo caught my eye right away. By the looks of this Art Deco style bathroom, she clearly holds true to that ideology. It truly embodies the Art Deco design motif.
What makes this bathroom Art Deco, you ask? Well, Art Deco is a design style that rose to popularity in Europe in the 1920s, and powered on strongly in the United States through the 1930s. Art Deco veered away from pastels used in Art Nouveau by sticking to black and white tones paired with metallic, reflective finishes. Another characteristic of Art Deco design is the use of geometric shapes. Take note of the square tiles and clean lines created by the dual mirrors, not to mention the cylindrical shape of the two vintage sconces used above the mirrors.
So you’re eying those sconces now and thinking they look pretty high-end – like you’ve got to be a designer to snag something like that? Nope, not here! We carry a fixture that is nearly identical. Check out the Paris Art Deco Wall Sconce. Its cylindrical shape keeps with the geometric style of Art Deco, while the Polished Nickel finish also carries out with the theme. After all, if it’s going to be named after a style, it should look like it! The Art Deco movement even originated in Paris. Naming coincidence? I don’t think so.
This vintage wall sconce is available in small and large sizes and is sure to provide the illumination needed in your elegant powder room. Craving more Art Deco style lighting? Simply search for “Art Deco†to browse our collection of stylish, modern lighting!
